Do you detect styrene (C8H8) in your application? This gas is used to produce plastics, like polystryrene.

The pharmaceutical industry and perfumeries are using small quantities of styrene as an additive in perfumes and medicine. It is also used in the chemical industry as a solvent to synthesize polyester resins.

C8H8 is a colourless or sometimes yellowish, yet carcinogenic gas with a soft smell detectable from 0.15 ppm. This substance is very harmful by inhalation and can irritate the skin and eyes (R36/38).

In need of a styrene detector? We’ve got the WatchGas NEO and POLI PID available for you.
